This is a legal requirement for any UK new build. In fact, the test demonstrates compliance with Approved Document E. Properties require either an Airborne Test or an Airborne and Impact test.
Types of Sound Insulation Testing:
Airborne Test: We perform these on separating walls and floors. More specifically, this form of testing covers habitable rooms in houses and flats. The test itself involves placing a loudspeaker in one room.
We then take several measurements around the speaker. Following this, we measure the other side of the wall or floor.
Impact Test: Meanwhile, we conduct Impact Tests on separating floors. Much like Airborne Tests, this covers habitable rooms in houses and flats.
We place a tapping machine on the floor and record measurements from the room beneath.
Within the upper or ‘source’ room, we put the tapping device in four random locations. For this reason, please ensure access to both sides of the floor and remove any carpet.
Requirements
You must have Sound Insulation Testing in Braintree before completing your housing project.
Furthermore, we require such elements as running water, fitted windows and doors in place. Please ensure these conditions before we conduct the test. There cannot be any room for error.
